Shaojun Shi

  • Early Stage Researcher, Erasmus Medical Center, The Netherlands
  • WP4.2 ER stress during osteogenesis and angiogenesis and the impact of ECM and oxygen tension
  • Secondment to HKU, February–May 2019

Shaojun is a transplant surgeon performing his PhD study under supervision of Prof.dr. Luc J W van der Laan at Erasmus Medical Centre, the Netherlands. They are currently collaborating with Dr. B.C.J van der Eerden on ER stress in human MSCs biology. Shaojun is experienced in the culture of human liver-derived MSCs and organoids. He is now working on the differentiation potential of liver-derived MSCs and hepatic progenitor cells under hypoxia stress. In addition, he is also focusing on programmed cell death in hepatic ischemia-reperfusion during liver transplantation.

In RUBICON, Shaojun visited the laboratory headed by Prof. Danny Chan in the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in Hong Kong, China, to investigate the role of ER stress in the differentiation potential of human MSCs under hypoxia stress.
